China Custom's statistics showed that the import of textile machinery made by China in 2005 was U.S. dollar 3.445 billion falling 24.06 per cent year-on-year.

In 2005, China gave priority to import knitting, printing & dyeing and finishing machinery, in which knitting machinery taking up 22.84 per cent of the total import, printing & dyeing and finishing machinery, taking up 21.18 per cent, weaving machinery 17.88 per cent, accessories and spare parts 11.67 per cent, chemical fiber machinery 10.67 per cent, weaving preparation machinery 2.14 and no-woven machinery 1.19 per cent only.

In 2005, the main countries and regions to import textile machinery in China were Japan, Germany, Italy, Taiwan China.

The textile machinery imported by own foreign venture in China in 2005 was USD 1.115 billion, down 1.04 per cent on the previous year, the import by the state-own companies in China was USD 0.792 billion, down 25.99 per cent year-on-year, the import by the joint venture companies was USD 0.577 billion, down 48.29 per cent, the import by the private companies was USD 0.5 billion, down 12.72 per cent year-on-year, the import by the collective companies was USD 0.414 billion, down 23.02 per cent, the import by the china & foreign cooperative companies was USD 0.046 billion, down 58.53 and the import by other companies was USD 0.17733 million.
