The Textile Industry Committee of
the Mediation Center of the China Council for
the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT)/China
Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) was
jointly set up by the CCPIT/CCOIC Mediation Center
and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT
(CCPIT TEX) in February of 2006. The purpose of
establishing this committee is to meet the requirements
of the development of textile industry in China
by building a specialized legal service institution
to resolve trade frictions and disputes encountered
by enterprises of textile and clothing industry
in their economic and trade activities.
The CCPIT/CCOIC Mediation Center, established
in the 1980's, is China's most authoritative and
representative permanent mediation institution
in resolving commercial and maritime disputes.
With its head office in Beijing, the Mediation
Center has over 40 sub-council (branch) mediation
centers in the major cities of the country, forming
a nationwide mediation network. So far, the mediation
network has taken up over 5000 cases involving
50-odd countries and regions. In addition, the
Mediation Center has established joint mediation
centers or partnership with major mediation institutions
in the world to jointly mediate disputes between
Chinese and foreign parties.
As a nationwide institution for the promotion
of international trade in textiles and garments,
the CCPIT TEX has rich practical experience in
serving enterprises of textile and clothing industry.
In addition to taking on the heavy responsibility
of opening up both international and domestic
markets for the China National Textile and Apparel
Council, it is working together with various specialized
associations of the China National Textile and
Apparel Council to offer an all-embracing service,
legal service included, to enterprises.
The first group of 30 mediators appointed by
the Textile Industry Committee is mainly from
the textile and legal communities. They are all
leaders and experts in the textile and clothing
industry and legal professionals who know corporate
culture very well and have abundant theoretical
knowledge and practical business experience. The
Committee is an association of high-end talents
who take advantage of each other's strengths,
a combination of characteristics of the textile
industry with legal service, a worthy institution
of mediation within an industry, which employs
a completely new model of joint mediation.
The Textile Industry Committee will comply with
the CCPIT/CCOIC Mediation Rules and the Rules
for Mediators, respect the autonomy of the parties,
establish the truth based on facts and distinguish
right from wrong, trying to bring about reconciliation,
through mutual understanding and accommodation,
between the parties in accordance with the contractual
agreements and the law, in light of the international
practice and in line with the principles of fairness,
reasonableness and consultation on an equal footing.
Guided by the idea of "striving for the
best option - harmony and a win-win result",
basing itself in the textile industry and gearing
to the needs of the society, the Textile Industry
Committee will offer high-quality and high-efficiency
legal service to Chinese and foreign enterprises,
making contribution to the building of a harmonious
socialist society.
