Brief Report on China's imports of cotton in Jan.-Dec. 2006

According to the statistics promulgated by the Chinese Customs, China has imported 3.81million tons of raw cotton in the calendar year 2006, 43% up than the same period of 2005 with the value at US$ 4.92 billion, 53% higher compared with the same period of 2005.
USA ranks first, following by India, Uzbekistan, Austral and Burkina Faso. The total quantity from the above five countries amounts to 3.07 million tons with the share of 80.58% and the total value comes to US$ 4.07 billion with the share of 82.63%.
