| The Yuhang District is
located in the east, west and north of Hangzhou,
covering 1220 square kilometers, populated with
800,000 people. The year of 2002 witnessed a total
GDP for 17.5 billion RMB, industril output value
for 42.7 RMB , and fiscal revenue for 1.7 billion
RMB. The economic growth in the District is largely
depending on the 5 big industries ¨C textile &
apparel, mechanics & electronics, pharmpeudicals
& chemistry, building materials, and food processing,
taking a shape of modern industrial zone,embracing
Linping Industrial Zone as the flagship, 2 specialized
zones as supportings, and 17 industrial zones at
township level as supplements. |
| The home-textile industry in the
area has a better growth prospect on account of
its solid production base, and has gained more and
more importance. There are approximately 3000 home-textile
enterprises, and more than 10,000 looms in various
types, an output of over 200 million meters of decor-fabrics
annually, which are exported to USA, EU, Australia,
Middle East, Southeast Asia etc. Over 50,000 people
are working in the local home-textile industry with
annual sales turnover reaching more than 5 billion
RMB, turning up many famous flagship enterprises
like Hightex, Zhongwang, etc.
In 2002, the local government enacted a policy
to speed up the economic growth in the local home-textile
sector, this policy promoted a production centralization
and development in home-textile industry, making
it possible to bring its advantages into a full
play in terms of operational system, marketing
networks, industrial foundation, leadership role,
capitals accumulation, technical renovation, development
opportunities, policy environment etc..

Great efforts will further be made to speed
up technical upgrading and investment introduction.
It is believed that in 3 to 5 years, the gross
output will be expanded , industrial level elevated,
the growth speed in concord with product structures,
quality and profit well balanced, to build the
local home-textile industry into a giant, a strong
giant.
