Huicheng District , populated with 1.15 million residents, 1471 square kilometers in territory , is the seat for Huizhou city, adjacent to Shenzhen and Dongguan. In 2003, the total GDP in the district reached RMB10.3 billion, and industrial output value amounted to RMB 27.2 billion, of which, the textile industrial output value arrived at RMB 7 billion, 25% of the total. There were approx. 2200 enterprises in number as of the end of 2003, which produce over 200 million units of apparel in annual capacity, 150 million units out of the production go to men-wear. The output of T-shirts made of mercerized cotton fabric accounts for more than one-third of the nation's total. With the men's wear taking the lead, the apparel manufacturing industry is growing rapidly. At present, there are 14 enterprises whose individual investment surpassed RMB 100 million, and 217 enterprises whose individual sales turnover overtake RMB 5 million. Also in the district are there many famous brands ,like Virtue, Saint Malong, Jeanswest, and international brand of Playboy. In view of technical equipment, this District also has internationally-advanced automation-driven three dimension design & cutting systems, and CAD, production lines imported from France, Italy, Japan for high-end shirts & suits , steaming machines, vortex spinning and automated dyeing & printing systems. Apart from manufacturing side, there are over 50 marketing enterprises that employ thousands of sales people. Furthermore, there are over 100 transportation lines connecting the city with the rest of the country, providing easy and prompt transportation facilities, making it possible for the District to become the trading center for domestic apparels, especially the men's wear.
The local government is playing the important role in encouraging the enterprises to take the road of building a specialized town in synchronism with implementing brands strategy to upgrade an individual brand to a regional brand. Huicheng, the famous town of men's wear in China, will take the advantage of regional production clustering to cultivate its own market, and occupy it with its regional brand & scale-up effect, and gradually become the attractive, influential and penetrative apparel brand center to be known by the region.
