Press Release

Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics opens Wednesday at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Over 1,530 textile suppliers – a 26% increase from 2004 – will present their products on 60,000sqm of exhibition space, making the fair over 50% bigger than last year. The show is open for four days, 26 – 29 October 2005, with the first day reserved for buyers with invitations only.

Exhibitors include some of the world’s market leaders such as 3M, Cotton Council International, Dow Fiber Solutions, the Huafu Group, Hyosung, Lenzing Fibers, Swarovski and Union Knopf.

"The response from exhibitors has really been remarkable this year," says Annie Ma, Group Manager of Trade Fairs for Messe Frankfurt in Hong Kong. “We are very impressed by the industry response. Many exhibitors were still on waiting list until the end of September. This really proves that apparel textile professionals recognise the show at one of the most important of its kind in China."

Domestic exhibitors

Close to 1,000 Chinese exhibitors will participate at the show including suppliers from the nation’s key textile producing regions; Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Products showcased will include not only textiles for mass production but also functional textiles and high-end products. Da Fa Cloth and Luthai Textile will be some of the Chinese market leaders present.

Overseas exhibitors

Over 560 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions make up the overseas group this year. Many foreign companies exhibitors recognise, and wish to capitalise upon China’s strong and ever-growing demand for quality textiles.

This year, the show welcomes for the first time companies from the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Peru.

National/Regional pavilions

There will be nine national pavilions from countries including Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Portugal, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey.

With a total of 118 companies, the Japanese group will be the largest national pavilion at the show. Most of the products displayed will be innovative functional fabrics.

“We have been monitoring the market, and found that China’s demand for value-added fabrics is on the increase", says Mr. George Ikeshita of The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO). "Intertextile Shanghai is the ideal starting point for Japanese manufacturers who want to fill the gap in demand for such high-quality products.”

Group pavilions

Cotton Incorporated, Buhler Quality Yarns and Supima Association will exhibit at the show under the banner of Cotton Council International (CCI), the international division of the National Cotton Council of America. These companies will showcase US cotton products.

The Lenzing group, a world leader in marketing and manufacturing man-made cellulose fibres, will be present with 18 participants. The group pavilion will present the latest products in their brands: TENCEL, Lenzing Modal and Lenzing Viscose and their application in apparel textiles.

Hyosung, a leader in the world’s chemical fiber industry, is participating at the fair jointly with eleven representatives. Products presented will include AEROSILVER, XANADU-55, MAGIC SILVER, as well as CREORA and MIPAN.
