CNTAC News Conference announced major tasks in 2006

On the afternoon of March 2, China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) held a special News Conference at Beijing News Plaza to declare its priority tasks in the year of 2006 and a series of events in textile industry during the following season.

The present officers and guests included: Mr. Chen Dapeng, deputy chairman and secretary general of China National Garment Association (GNGA); Mr. Chen Weikang, deputy chairman of the Sub-Council of Textile Industry of CCPIT; Ms. Xu Xinrong, deputy director of Science and Technology Department of CNTAC; Ms. Su Baoyan, secretary general of China Fashion Designers Association (CFDA); Mr. Zhao Hong, deputy director of the News Center of CNTAC; and Mr. Lin Guangxing, secretary general of China Knitting Industrial Association (CKIA). Mr. Sun Huaibin, director of the News Center of CNTAC mastered the procedures for the news conference and made a general release on the tasks and events.

After brief review of the year of 2005, Mr. Sun Huaibin pointed out that there are five major tasks for CNTAC in 2006, which are: 1. to figure out the Eleventh Five-Year Plan for textile industry with scientific development outlook for micro-control; 2. to comprehensively improve the whole industry’s abilities of self-governance and innovation; 3. to regulate social responsibility of enterprises and to promote the social responsibility management system—China Social Compliance 9000 for Textile & Apparel Industry (CSC9000T); 4. to further perfect the services and efficiency of CNTAC as a media for the textile industry; 5. to continue international exchanges and cooperation.

It will be a busy spring for China’ textile industry from March to April when a number of exhibitions and forums and conferences are going to curtain up. The third Global Textile Economic Forum, a group of expos including CHIC 2006, Intertextile Beijing 2006, the third Yarn Expo and the fourth China Knitting, and China Fashion Week aroused the most attention from the press representatives. And the Textile Key Technological and Instrumental Breakthrough Mobilization Conference, the Second Sino-Japan Textile Development and Cooperation Conference and the Competitiveness of Textile and Apparel Enterprises Assessment and Release Conference 2005/2006 definitely reflect the determination of CNTAC on playing the role it should be.

Twenty-minute Q-and-A went on following Mr. Sun Huaibin’s introduction. Journalists from Xinhua net, Sina.com, 21 Century Business, Fujian TV, Tianjin TV and other major press media were active in the section.
