China Textile Forum looks at industry future

The Ninth Annual Conference of China Textile Round Table Forum, co-sponsored by Oerlikon Manmade Fibers, was held recently at the Beijing Kunlun Hotel in China.

The conference theme was: ‘Comprehensively deepening reforms and developing the textile industry.’ Discussions took place on the following hot topics, according to Oerlikon: influence of comprehensively deepening economic system reform of third plenary session of CPC on the textile industry; 2014 macro-economic situation and policies; new-year economic situation and effect on the textile industry, particularly the chemical fibre industry; the textile industry in the 12th Five-year Plan and 13th Five-year Plan (2015-2020); major reform of the textile industry and the issue of excess capacity.

Speakers included Jia Kang, economist, member of the national committee of CPPCC and director of the Financial Science Institute at the Ministry of Finance, Yao Jingyuan, economist and special researcher of the State Council and Zhang Yansheng, researcher and secretary general of the academic committee of National Development & Reform Commission.

Respectively, they spoke on: ‘Interpretation on new policies of comprehensive deepening reform of the economic system of third plenary sessions of the CPC’, ‘Macroeconomic situation and policies in 2014’ and ‘Building new advantages of the textile industry on international competitiveness and cooperation’.

Gao Yong, vice president and secretary general of CNTAC and Sun Ruizhe, vice president of CNTAC, later spoke on the topics of: ‘Economic situation analysis and perspective on the textile industry in 2013-2014’ and ‘Perspective on the textile industry in the period of 12th Five-year Plan and 13th Five-year Plan (2015-2020)’, respectively.

Stefan Kross, CEO of Oerlikon Manmade Fibers, gave a speech on: ‘Comprehensive process know-how as the decisive lead for eco-friendly innovations for the manmade fibers industry’.

The Forum attracted more than 320 delegates including personnel of related government departments, CNTAC and related industry associations, well-known Chinese and foreign entrepreneurs and the media. Ten important clients and eight partner media were invited by Oerlikon Manmade Fibers.

The Forum was organised by CNTAC and hosted by the China Textile Economy Research Center and News Center of CNTA.
