Jan.-Sep. 2005: China Textile and Apparel Imp. & Exp. Reached US$99.495Billion

Jan.-Sep., China total imp. & exp. value of foreign trade reached 1024.51 billion US dollars, increasing 23.7% year on year. Among them, export was 546.42 billion US dollars, increasing 31.3%; while import was 478.08 billion US dollars, increasing 16.0%. Trade surplus was 68.34 billion US dollars.

According to General Administration of Customs, Jan.-Sep., China gross imp. & exp. value of textiles and apparel reached 99.495 billion US dollars, increasing 19.62% year on year, and taking up 9.71% of China gross imp.&exp. value of foreign trade. Gross export value of textiles and apparel in China was up to 86.808 billion US dollars, increasing 22.77% compared with the same period of last year, and taking up 15.89% of gross export value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textiles export was 32.5 billion dollars, increasing 24.95% year on year; and apparel export was 54.309 billion US dollars, increasing 21.50% compared with the same period of last year. Gross import value of textiles and apparel reached 12.687 billion US dollars, decreasing 1.75% year on year, and taking up 2.65% of gross import value of foreign trade in China. Among them, textiles import was 11.538 billion US dollars, decreasing 1.80%; while apparel import was 1.149 billion US dollars, increasing 1.32%. During the period, favorable balance of textile and apparel trade reached 74.121 billion US dollars.

Among main export regions of textile and apparel, the United States, Japan and Hong Kong became top three. In Jan.-Sep., the export to the United States reached 14.628 billion US dollars, increasing 65.61% compared with the same period of last year; export to Japan was 13.274 billion US dollars, increasing 8.76% compared with the same period of last year; export to Hong Kong was up to 10.857 billion US dollars, decreasing 14.64% compared with the same period of last year. Total value of export to the three regions reached 38.759 billion US dollars, taking up 44.65% of total export of textile and apparel. Export to EU reached 14.964 billion US dollars, increasing 61.76% compared with the same period of last year. Export to restricted countries reached 31.736 billion US dollars, increasing 31.63% compared with the same period of last year. Export to non-restricted countries reached 55.072 billion dollars, increasing 7.83% compared with the same period of last year.

Among main import regions, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea become top three. In Jan.-Sep., import textile and apparel from Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea was 2.51 billion US dollars, 2.375 billion US dollars, and 2.005 billion US dollars, decreasing 13.54%, 3.79%, and increasing 2.17% respectively.
