Cotton Shipments by Truck Impacted by Increased Costs
Source£ºglobecotnews         Date: 2008-07-01
Chinese truckers, just like their counterparts in Europe and the U.S., are falling on very difficult times as they deal with skyrocketing costs. The latest hike in China's domestic diesel prices have pushed many to the brink of bankruptcy. One way local logistic companies are dealing with this situation is not to haul cotton by truck for short distances nor accept small loads. These restrictions have left mills to work out their own solutions. Many of the small spinners have been keeping cotton inventories down to 5 - 7 days; and in order to achieve this, they depend on trucking firms to haul small quantities of cotton at regular intervals, which is currently difficult.
