The 12-nation euro zone's industrial new orders rose by 2.5 percent last December compared to the previous month, Eurostat said on Wednesday.

The figure is drop from the 5.3 percent growth seen in November but better than the 0.5 percent decline in October, said the European Union's statistical office.

Month on month, new orders for transport equipment in the euro zone grew by 11.5 percent while textiles and textile products increased by 7.2 percent and 5.4 percent respectively.
