Important Information
China's 2007 trade surplus hits record  
  China's trade surplus surged 47.7 percent over a year earlier to reach a record 262.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2007, the General Administration of Customs said FridayٍJan 11, 2007.  
 
 
Report: China's textile industrial output surges 21.9% in 2007  
  China's textile industrial output for 2007 is forecast to reach 3.05 trillion yuan (416.8 U.S. billion), a 21.9 percent increase year-on-year, according to a report released by the Textile Industry Association.  
 
 
January-November 2007 Textile/Apparel Exports to EU are Flat  
  China exported 160.651 billion U.S. dollars (USD) worth of textiles and apparel during the January through November 2007 period.Cotton product exports gained 31.05 percent to 66.145 billion USD.  
 
 
December Cotton Imports Surge to 322,600 Tons  
  In December, China's cotton imports jumped 217 percent from November's volume to reach 322,600 tons, an increase of 82,300 tons from the previous year.This upsurge was attributed to increased imports from India. However, overall cumulative performance for January through December 2007 declined 32.46 percent to 2,406,800 tons.  
2007 Cotton Yarn Imports Reach 916,400 Tons  
  China imported 916,400 tons of cotton yarn in 2007, which was the equivalent of approximately 4,378,816 480-pound bales of cotton. Total yarn imports did slightly decline 2.1 percent from 2006. Pakistan was the top supplier. Cotton yarn exports were flat in 2007, reaching 577,300 tons.
