Imports Increase 4.18 Percent |

In 2007, China imported 17.103
billion U.S. dollars (USD) worth of textiles
and apparel, which represented a 4.18 percent
year-on-year increase. Japan, Taiwan, South
Korea and Hong Kong were the main suppliers,
with imports from Asia accounting for 15.022
billion USD of the volume. |

of raw wool sets new record in 2007 |

Amidst
mid-year thoughts that there would be constraints
on China's imports of raw wool due to high
utilisation of import quota and environmental
problems, China's imports of raw wool and
top lifted in 2007. Imports rose in 2007 to
the highest level of imports by China on record,
exceeding the most recent high of 2001. |

Reach 158,200 Tons in February 2008 |

China's cotton imports remained
strong in February 2008, reaching 158,200
tons, a small decline from January imports
but up 26 percent from year-ago levels. September
2007 through February 2008 cotton imports
increased 29 percent from the previous year
to 1.1 million tons.
